#20. Bran Cereal

Bran cereal contains a lot of fiber. Dietary fiber has been found to be highly effective in reducing the risk of colon cancer, and other forms of cancer that may come as a result of obesity. The high levels of fiber in bran cereal reduce the likelihood of cancerous growths occurring in the alimentary canal. The fiber in the bran adds bulk to the walls of the colon, and it protects the digestive system from agents that may cause cancerous tumors to grow on the intestines. A substance called butyrate is also produced when the roughage in bran cereal is partly digested. This substance has the effect of discouraging the growth of intestinal tumors.
